Friday's Story

THE GIRL WHO WENT INTO WAR

Chapter Three

The train was almost empty. Besides me there were only two persons in the coupe. They were both wearing army uniforms and they had big green bags next to them. They were talking to each other quietly. I bought a ticket from the train ticket clerk and then just stood in the middle of the passageway, loosely holding my bag. I had no idea what to do so I just crashed on the seat next to the soldiers and asked a rather stupid question: „ Are you going to war?“.

„ No, we are just dressed up for a carnival,“ said one of the boys ironically.

„ Haha, very funny,“ i responded with a smirk. „ Do you mind, if I join you?“

„ No, not at all. Besides, you are already sitting here“.

„So... You are going to war then? Me too.“ I started a conversation.

„ You are? Wow, really?!“ asked boys with one voice.

„ Really,“ I smiled. „ What, are you like brothers or something?“

„ Almost,“ laughed the boy who was sitting against me. „ We are best buddies.“

I smiled and looked at both of them. Their hair was medium length and a bit spiky. They honestly did look like brothers. The boy who was sitting against me had dimples and when he smiled it seemed to me like his entire face started glowing. His eyes were dark blue and they had that spark in them, that only people who are always positive have. There was no worry in his stance.

The boy next to me had a bit pointy chin and high cheekbones, his eyes were emerald green and very kind. His stance was also careless and free.

It seemed like they had no worries about what is going to come. It was like they were not going to war but they actually were going to a carnival.
